With all this Haitian news going around i thought i would share my experience with Haiti...My family and i used to travel to Haiti every summer for about 5 years. We visited a village called Gonaives, we ran a Vacation Bible school at the Starfish School. It was one of the highlights of my life. We were able to build relationships and learn about them and teach them about the promises of Jesus. They are the most wonderful people ive ever met. They have nothing, and are happier than any Americans i know. They are beautiful people. But the ugly runs so deep, the people that can afford to come here are bad people. I remember one day we went to pave a gravel road, most of them have no shoes so walking on gravel and cutting their feet leaves them vulnerable to nasty infections, we were met with a gang wielding machetes, they didn\'t like that we were trying to better their place, they saw it as us showing off. We were able to get out of there quickly and get back to base safely but i will never forget it. It breaks my heart that such wonderful people have to be mixed in with such evil. We haven\'t been back in a long time because their political violence is too dangerous for us. They would surely kill us if we tried to go. Our friends have been murdered, some have converted to the gang life. Its a sad reality but i guess i just wanted yall to know that not all Haitians are bad and eat cats but the ones that have come illegally are the worst of the worst.
